I listened in awe as he field questions and commented on the music and I never realised how close I was to brilliance! I lost touch with the music and the man over the years, but upon retirement I started to fill in the many blanks in my record collection and rediscovered BJH and Wooly. I was mortified to discover that he had committed suicide so many years ago in such utter despair and pain. Tears fill my eyes typing this as I have personal experience in this area and wish so much that somebody, anybody, could have reached out and saved this lovely talented man. God bless Wooly, I hope you have found the peace that many if not all of us seek!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17402101104744975390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18722527.post-33693606572323478282015-04-14T20:23:34.258+02:002015-04-14T20:23:34.258+02:00I was looking for something to post on my fb page ...I was looking for something to post on my fb page tomorrow, as it would have been his birthday…..
I will share your lovely article.
I was lucky enough to call him a friend & miss him hugely. Between sets, there was Wooly at the bar, so I offered to buy him a Guinness and talk some mellotron, and as it turned out, gardening. We had a few, got to giggling, and I convinced him to play Mockingbird in the second set using choir instead of strings. He did it, smiling all the way through, and it worked. Those were the days, folks. Thank you for a memorable evening, Stuart (by evening's end, we were far past nicknames, and calling each other our full birth names), some brilliant mellotron playing, and your tip on fish guts that benefit my tomatoes to this day.
