To act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with God - in contrast to the offering of thousands of rams etc.

It stikes me that most of Jesus' teaching follows a similar vein - i.e the emphasis more on service than "worship" as we would see it. Of course, there really shouldn't be a distinction at all.Les (Endlessly Restless)https://www.blogger.com/profile/00973835208897357154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18722527.post-89851926710734940362007-08-30T22:11:00.000+02:002007-08-30T22:11:00.000+02:00Steg - Thanks for your researches.Endlessly Restle...Steg - Thanks for your researches.

Endlessly Restless - Marshall's article proved to be worth tracking down, as would be expected from a scholar of his standing it is thorough and throught-provoking. You're suggestion of an amalgam of the two models, but with the 'arrows' weighted towards Marshall's emphasis, is probably closer to the whole of his argument. That Hideous Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12076125326851070568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18722527.post-23911006153893434492007-08-29T23:07:00.000+02:002007-08-29T23:07:00.000+02:00Skim-reading their website I think they are probab...Skim-reading their website I think they are probably the evangelical wing of the Church of England. You can tell because of their attitude towards homosexuality and same sex unions (bad - only aswer is to repent and become celibate apparently) and Anglo Catholicism (also bad apparently, too much ritual). Whereas an Anglo Catholic wing would have far more about women priests (terrible in their view) and the possibility of full communion with Rome (pigs and flying spring to mind).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
