Oxford University Press have regular sales with many of their books flogged at 75% off. Since being pointed in their direction a few years ago by Dr Stumpy Greenisland I've found them a regular source of cheap, worthwhile reading.
Their latest offerings can be found at: http://www.oup.co.uk/sale/2007/
Quite - but alas there is little of interest this year - well to me anyway. I may give way and buy a bios of Pauli (reduced for £40 to £10) - but then I bought a similarly hugely reduced bios of Bernal in last year's sale & have yet to read a page... still looks good on the shelf....
ReplyDeleteI heard that a similar fate had actually befallen most of your impressive library....
ReplyDelete;-))
Alas... many a true word is spoken in jest. At least it looks impressive. However I have yet (and this is the point where the whole strategy really falls to pieces) to actually come across anyone who is in the least impressed.
ReplyDeletePersonally I blame my children (they are currently too uninterested to argue back). If it wasn't for them I could be filling my head with irrelevancies and un-edifying facts at a rate of 2 chapters a night.
