Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.
1 Corinthians 2:3
Today we pray to the God of all comfort for those who suffer pain, loss, injustice and for whom this world is a cruel, cruel place.

We pray not for theodicy, but for theophany. For as Dr Stumpy Greenisland so memorably wrote, "no answer can be made small enough for my mind".
