What do these have in common?
The answer is simply that the Otter, Seal, Fishing Industry, and Railway, were all drawn here to Mallaig because of fish, and have subsequently been under threat.
Sadly not. We were over on Skye and only went to Mallaig as foot passengers on the ferry for a few hours. I'd love to get up to that area again next year though.. .
Arisaig?? Silver Sands?? Now I'm not a born romantic, but many years ago I decided that I would take Mrs Meldrew away to Arisaig for a romantic weekend to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Now bear in mind that this was 2 days after the Longest Day, we could have expected at least slightly non monsoon weather. To cut a long story short we sat in our hotel room and watched the Wimbledon Tennis. And it was rubbish too. SIlver Sands? I don't believe it!

We were up in Mallaig at the start of July this year. Did you travel a wee bit south to experience the "silver sands" of Arisaig and Camusdarach?
